LL.M. Summer Experience
Georgetown University Law Center offers its incoming one-year LL.M. students the option of taking any or all of three courses in the summer before the LL.M. commences:
- Foundations of American Law and Legal Education
- U.S. Legal Discourse and
- Professional Responsibility Law in the United States.
Enrollment in these classes is optional. They are open only to students who confirm their intent to enroll for the Georgetown LL.M. in the 2013 - 2014 academic year.
Foundations of American Law and Legal Education has long provided the initial gateway for LL.M. students studying in the United States because it introduces them to the basics of American law and to the special dynamics of the U.S. legal classroom before they begin regular for-credit classes.
The U.S. Legal Discourse (1 or 2 credits) and Professional Responsibility Law in the U.S. courses (2 credits) are open to all students but may be especially appealing to those planning to sit for the New York Bar exam. Both courses satisfy New York Bar requirements. Click here for a discussion of the New York Bar Exam rules and other important bar information. They are also offered during the 2013 - 2014 academic year for students not enrolling for them during the LL.M. Summer Experience.
