Georgetown Law Open on Time
The Law Center will open on time Monday, March 2, 2015, but liberal leave is in effect. All designated emergency employees must report to work on time. All other employees may take unscheduled leave, but should contact their supervisor to discuss the needs of their unit and individual circumstances.
The Center for the Study of the Legal Profession at Georgetown Law conducts rigorous empirical research on trends and developments in law practice. The Center aims not only to advance knowledge about the legal profession, but to:
(1) Equip students to make choices that are based on a sophisticated understanding of the opportunities, pressures, and challenges of different career paths and the competencies necessary to succeed in them;
(2) Enable the Law Center to make decisions about its strategy and operations that are informed by the latest knowledge about how law practice is evolving; and
(3) Help lawyers navigate the demands of modern practice in communities of practice that nurture the professional values of commitment to clients, independent judgment, and service to society; and
The Center has done work and sponsored events relating to a range of practice sectors, such as criminal prosecution, government practice, and public interest law. It is the only center or institute at Georgetown, however, that devotes attention to private practice, which is the sector in which a substantial majority of Law Center graduates work.
